The 2009 Jimmy Leitner, Sr. Leadership Award was presented to Mark Kyle during the worship service on June 21!

Mark has served our church in many leadership roles such as on Finance, Administrative Board, Council on Ministries, President of UMM, Seekers SS class president, the Scouting program (19 years) and the youth basketball program (17 years), just to name a few. He has been an usher for 20 years, worked on annual grounds cleanup, church dinners, TLCS and Wesley Center functions.

Mark currently works with other men at Union who mentor Epworth High School boys. If you want to know a great story about his dedication to his Junior Boys basketball team and how he was able to motivate them to win the League Championship, just ask those boys or Mark about his head and a can of Turtle Wax!!!

Mark is one of those “salt of the earth” individuals who “always seems to be there until the last chair is put away”, serving his Lord in a quiet, selfless manner. He is truly a light that shines brightly for others to see and is an example for us all.

What is the Jimmy Leitner, Sr. Award?

The world is a busy and complicated place.  Often it is harsh and cruel.  It is easy to feel lost, broken, out of place and overwhelmed. If you are hungering and thirsting for a food and drink that satisfies the soul, you will find it at Union United Methodist Church.  Union is a family of faith bound together by its common need for mercy, grace, and forgiveness.  Regardless of who you are, where you are from -- whether you are single, married, divorced, young, middle aged, or older -- have a life filled with success or one riddled with failure, you are welcome in this congregation just as you are.

Union UMC has two beautiful worship services of the Traditional style -- 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. held in the Sanctuary. 

There is a  Contemporary Worship  service held in the Chapel, beginning at 10:45 a.m.  This relax dressed service, has up-beat music performed by the “Praise Band” each week. The service includes Children’s Time followed by Children’s Church and occasional drama and skit performances. Nursery is provided.

The 2009 Nikki Kyle Spirit Scholarship Award was presented at the contemporary worship service on May 31 to Rachel Fogle! The presentation was made by Zoe Ayers and Heather Kirlough.
